You know what struck me first about the Crowne Plaza Sydney Macquarie Park? It’s actually in a pretty smart spot that most tourists never discover – tucked away in this business district that feels worlds apart from the chaos of central Sydney, but you’re still only about 20 minutes from the Opera House by train. I mean, Macquarie Park isn’t exactly glamorous, but there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that locals actually work and live around.

The hotel itself has that reliable IHG feel – you walk into a lobby that’s polished without being flashy, and honestly, after dealing with some of the cramped boutique places in the city center, the space here feels generous. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star property, though I’ll say the beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this stuff). What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – none of that street noise you deal with in the CBD, just the occasional hum from Talavera Road which is barely noticeable once you’re settled in. The bathroom setup is practical too, with decent water pressure and enough counter space to actually spread out your toiletries without playing Tetris.

Here’s the thing about this location that the booking sites don’t really explain well – you’re basically in Sydney’s equivalent of a tech hub, surrounded by office buildings and that massive Macquarie Centre shopping complex. It sounds boring, but it’s actually pretty convenient. There’s a decent food court and supermarket right there when you need basics, plus the train station is walkable (though “walkable” in Australian terms, so maybe 10-15 minutes). The staff seemed genuinely familiar with helping business travelers figure out transport into the city, which suggests they deal with this question constantly. Parking was straightforward too – not one of those nightmare hotel garage situations where you’re doing a 47-point turn to get into your spot. The whole area has this functioning, lived-in vibe that grows on you, especially if you’re tired of tourist-trap surroundings. With an 8.1 rating, it’s clearly doing something right for people who want solid comfort without the Sydney CBD premium prices or the constant crowds outside your window.

  Clean modern room, good blackout curtains, quiet, comfy beds, quiet air con.
  
  What could be improved: Paying for parking.
  Breakfast was a shambles, too many customers, no cleaned tables so nowhere to sit, food was replenished but serving area a mess.
  Staff did their best to cope, maintained their cool, remained courteous snd professional but were let down by not having enough staff to manage number of guests

  Very clean room, the stuff is so nice, they reply quickly to our calls and nice location near the train station, the shopping centre and near the city 20 min by metro, the buffet in the morning was so good❤️

  What could be improved: Other than eggs & toast, my coeliac daughter was unable to eat anything else at the buffet. She was told by staff that the gf bacon etc probably isn’t safe to eat due to cross contamination. No alternatives offered.
  The frosted glass in the bathroom meant that when the light was turned on late at night it woke up the whole room due to bright light shining in.

  The location was great for the things we wanted to do whilst in Sydney. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The public areas were spacious and clean. Will definitely stay here in the future.

  Lovely room, big KS bed, couch, lots of bench space, kettle and fridge in room.
  
  What could be improved: Disappointed the bar, resturant, and room service all Closed at 9.30pm even on weekends.
  We arrived at 9.30pm due to flight delay and could not get any food except McDonalds accross rd.
