You know what caught me off guard about the Cosy Studio? It’s actually tucked away behind the main street – you’d walk right past it if you didn’t know to look for that little laneway entrance. But honestly, that’s part of its charm. While everyone’s dealing with the hustle on Redfern Street proper, you’re slipping into this surprisingly quiet pocket that feels worlds away from the traffic noise.

The studio itself lives up to its name – it’s genuinely cosy without being cramped, if that makes sense. I mean, they’ve clearly put thought into how to make a small space work well. The kitchenette is compact but functional (I actually cooked a proper meal there, which says something), and there’s this nice natural light that streams in during the morning hours. The bed’s comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with that hotel-bed stiffness, and the bathroom’s clean with decent water pressure – you know, those little things that can make or break a stay. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night; being set back from the main drag means you’re not dealing with late-night revelers or early morning deliveries.

Location-wise, you’re right in the heart of one of Sydney’s most interesting neighborhoods. Redfern’s got this great mix of old Sydney character and new energy – there’s this fantastic Vietnamese place just around the corner that locals actually go to, and you can walk to Central Station in about ten minutes when you need to get around the city. The area’s definitely gentrified over the years, but it still has more personality than some of the sterile hotel strips. I found myself just wandering the streets in the evenings, checking out the street art and stumbling into little bars I never would have found otherwise. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving – street parking’s mostly metered during the day, but evenings and weekends aren’t too bad if you’re patient. The whole setup feels perfect for someone who wants to experience Sydney like a local rather than a tourist, honestly. It’s not fancy in that marble-lobby kind of way, but it’s thoughtfully put together and the price point makes sense for what you get.

  Great location, close to the city centre and public transport. Lots of nice cafes and parks a short walk away. The apartment was small but comfortable, good amenities and newly renovated.

  Nice size. Had all the necessities.
  
  What could be improved: When I arrive I was encountered by two cockroaches roaming around the kitchen area. I sprayed the whole apartment but still saw a four more during my stay. I think the fact that the entrance is at street level and there’s a gap under the door allows for insects to crawl in.
  
  Also the door lock plays up occasionally making it difficult to open.
  
  The entrance in a back lane made it unpleasant to go to especially at night. I think this place is not suitable for women.
