But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked away in this quiet residential pocket of Homebush that feels worlds away from the Sydney chaos, even though you’re literally minutes from Olympic Park. The building itself is one of those newer developments that doesn’t try too hard – clean lines, decent lobby, and thank god, lift access because nobody wants to haul luggage up stairs after a long flight.

The apartment itself is what I’d call “genuinely cosy” rather than that fake marketing cosy. Two proper bedrooms, not some weird converted space situation, and the living area actually has enough room for everyone to spread out without stepping on each other. The kitchen’s surprisingly well-equipped – I mean, you can actually cook a proper meal here, not just reheat takeaway. What really got me was the little touches: decent coffee pods (not that instant nonsense), proper towels that don’t feel like sandpaper, and windows that actually open for fresh air. The furniture’s that modern IKEA-adjacent style that somehow works without being boring, and honestly, the Wi-Fi is faster than what I have at home.

Here’s what locals know that tourists don’t – Homebush is having a moment. You’re a quick train ride to the city, but you’re also walking distance to some seriously good Korean BBQ on Parramatta Road, and the weekend markets at Olympic Park are actually worth your time. The area gets a bit buzzy during event season (think Easter Show or big concerts), but most of the time it’s refreshingly quiet. Street parking isn’t a nightmare like inner Sydney, and there’s a Woolworths close enough for those inevitable midnight snack runs.
