You know what struck me first about this place? It’s actually inside the Oaks Hotel building on Castlereagh Street, which I wasn’t expecting from the listing. But honestly, that turned out to be a good thing – you get all the perks of hotel security and services while having your own proper apartment space. The lobby feels professional without being stuffy, and getting to the 6th floor in the lifts is quick (no waiting around like in some of these older CBD buildings).

The apartment itself is genuinely spacious for Sydney standards – I mean, we’re talking about a city where “cozy” usually means you can touch both walls at once. The bedroom actually fits a proper bed plus room to open your suitcase without doing gymnastics, and the living area doesn’t feel cramped even when you’ve got takeaway containers spread out on the coffee table. The kitchen is functional too, which matters if you’re staying more than a couple nights and don’t want to eat out every meal (because let’s be honest, Sydney prices will kill your budget fast). They’ve got the basics covered – decent fridge, microwave, enough counter space to actually use.

Location-wise, you’re right in the thick of things but not so close to the main drags that you’re dealing with street noise all night. Castlereagh Street puts you within walking distance of pretty much everything you’d want to hit – Town Hall station is maybe 5 minutes away, which is clutch for getting around the city or out to the beaches. Hyde Park is right there when you need to escape the concrete jungle for a bit, and you’re close enough to the QVB and Pitt Street Mall for shopping without being stuck in the tourist chaos. I actually found myself grabbing coffee from this little place on Liverpool Street most mornings – one of those perfect Sydney discoveries you make when you’re staying somewhere that lets you explore like a local rather than rushing between hotel and attractions.

The whole setup works really well for business travelers or anyone who wants a bit more space to breathe. Sure, it’s not fancy – the furnishings are practical rather than Instagram-worthy, and the bathroom is standard hotel style – but everything works properly and feels clean. Check-in was smooth through the hotel desk, and having housekeeping available if you need it is nice. The building’s got good security too, which you appreciate when you’re coming back late from dinner or drinks in the city. For the price point and that 4-star rating, it delivers exactly what you’d expect without any nasty surprises.
