Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of serviced apartments in Sydney, and Citadines Walker North Sydney actually gets it right in ways that matter. The building sits right on Walker Street – and I mean right on it – which sounds like it’d be noisy, but honestly, North Sydney winds down pretty early compared to the CBD, so it’s not the traffic nightmare you’d expect. Plus, you’re literally a three-minute walk to North Sydney station, which means you can be at Circular Quay in under ten minutes. That’s gold if you’re here for business or just want to explore the city without the hassle of staying right in the thick of things.
What I really appreciate about this place is how they’ve nailed the apartment-hotel balance. The studios and one-bedrooms feel like actual homes, not hotel rooms with a kitchenette awkwardly shoved in the corner. The kitchens are properly equipped – I’m talking real pots and pans, not those flimsy things you usually get. There’s a washing machine in every unit too, which honestly saved me a fortune during my two-week stay. The housekeeping comes weekly unless you request otherwise, so you get that nice middle ground between independence and service. The front desk staff actually know the neighborhood well – they pointed me toward Kirribilli markets on Saturday morning and mentioned the best coffee spot on Miller Street (it’s called Dukes, by the way, and it’s fantastic).
The area itself is sort of this perfect sweet spot that a lot of visitors miss. You’ve got Luna Park literally across the harbor – you can see the face from some of the higher floors – and the Harbour Bridge is right there when you walk down to the water. But North Sydney also has this weird business district vibe that goes completely quiet after 6 PM, which I actually loved. There’s a Woolworths about two blocks away, decent restaurants scattered around Miller Street, and if you walk ten minutes down to McMahons Point, you hit some of the best harbor views in the city. The building itself has a small gym that’s nothing fancy but gets the job done, and there’s a rooftop terrace where you can actually see the Opera House if you crane your neck a bit. One thing to note – the elevators can be slow during morning rush hour since there are long-term residents mixed in with hotel guests, but that’s pretty minor. For what you get – proper space, kitchen facilities, great transport connections, and that 8.5 rating that feels totally justified – it’s one of those places I’d definitely book again. Especially if you’re staying more than a few days and want to feel less like a tourist and more like you’re actually living in Sydney for a while.
You need to let the property know what time you'll be arriving in advance.
