Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “ChinatownICCHaymarket Adorable 2Br Apt at CBD,” I thought someone had a bit of a meltdown with their keyboard. But you know what? This little place on Harbour Street actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s one of those spots where the awkward listing name totally undersells what you’re getting – a proper two-bedroom apartment right in the thick of Sydney’s action.
The location is honestly pretty brilliant, even if it doesn’t scream luxury. You’re literally walking distance from Chinatown (hence the name, I guess), and I mean the real deal – not some tourist trap version. There’s this amazing dumpling place about three blocks down that locals actually queue for, and you’ll stumble across it just wandering around. The ICC – that’s the International Convention Centre for anyone wondering – is practically next door, which explains why I kept running into business travelers in the lobby. Haymarket’s right there too, so you’ve got that whole bustling market energy without the chaos of staying directly above it. The building itself sits on a relatively quiet stretch of Harbour Street, which actually matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to sleep.
What really won me over was how lived-in it felt, in a good way. The apartment has this slightly worn-around-the-edges charm that makes it feel like someone’s actual home rather than a sterile hotel room. The kitchen’s got everything you’d need if you want to cook – and trust me, with the markets so close, you’ll want to. I spent way too much money on fresh produce just because I could actually use it. The bedrooms are decent sized for Sydney standards, though the second one’s a bit snug if you’re tall. There’s this great morning light that comes through the main room around 8am, which sounds random but honestly made my coffee routine so much better. The whole place has that slightly eclectic furniture mix that somehow works – nothing matches perfectly, but it all feels intentional rather than thrown together.
Now, it’s definitely not fancy – you’re looking at 3 stars and a 7.7 rating, which feels about right. The building’s got some character (read: it’s not brand new), and you might hear your neighbors occasionally. But the trade-off is being in this incredible pocket of the city where you can walk to Darling Harbour, wander through Chinatown for late-night noodles, or hop on transport to pretty much anywhere in Sydney. The whole CBD spreads out from here, and you start to feel like you’re actually living in the city rather than just visiting it. For the price point, especially if you’re splitting a two-bedroom, it’s honestly hard to beat. Just don’t expect room service or a concierge – this is more like borrowing a friend’s well-located apartment, which is exactly what some trips call for.

Reviews
Haymarket's best apartment – Sally from Australia – 6 December 2024 (9/10)
The location was amazing, and the host was also extremely friendly and helpful, checking in with us often and readily answering any questions we had.
The apartment itself had such a homely feeling and although the picture provided showed only 4 chairs in the dining room, the owner actually provided two extra as we were a group of 6 people, so that was very sweet.
The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen utensils plentiful. Overall, everything we needed and more were provided, making this an extremely pleasant experience.
What could be improved: For a 6 night stay, some of the amenities were slightly lacking. Due to the heat, there were also a few bugs.Super convenient – Bubenicek from Australia – 31 May 2024 (9/10)
Location
What could be improved: Would prefer black out blinds in the living room.Excellent base for Sydney. – Monica from Australia – 27 August 2024 (9/10)
The location was amazing, and the communication and instructions from the owner were fantastic. Clean with all the amenities you need.
What could be improved: Could perhaps do with another armchair for 4th person to comfortably sit in lounge area.Easily the best accommodation we've stayed in Sydney! – Rachael from Australia – 3 March 2025 (10/10)
Easy walk to Central station, amazing food options in China Town, close to the Market and the pool was amazing!!
Good – Thi from Australia – 13 February 2025 (10/10)
Everything good
What could be improved: NoneLocation, and foodie heaven – Helen from Australia – 31 December 2024 (10/10)
Location is exceptional – easy walk to Chinatown (you are practically in Chinatown!), Paddys Market, Marketplace Shopping Center, Darling Harbour, and countless cafes and restaurants. You are also close to light rail stations which means you get access to Sydney's comprehensive public transport system. The apartment is lovely and clean, with comfy beds. The pool on level six is fantastic. I cannot recommend this place and location highly enough – we will try and book here again for our next trip to Sydney.
What could be improved: There was no tea provided and the box of tissues were low. No big deal as we were able to purchase these items. We would definitely comeback and stay on same apartment. Highly recommended to family and friends. – Bradley from Australia – 10 December 2024 (10/10)
The location is really good. The apartment is very modern, spacious and very clean.
What could be improved: The bed is too hard for us.Had to leave early due to family member passing away. – Stephen from Australia – 11 July 2025 (6/10)
Location.
What could be improved: absolute Nightmare to pick up Keys lock boxes in 2 locations lock box was not marked.Disappointment due to no air conditioning and the inability of the owner to get it fixed saying it will be expensive to – Greg from Australia – 18 November 2024 (4/10)
The location was good and access to Chinatown for meals was good.
What could be improved: The air conditioning did not work for our entire stay of three days. We advised the owner who requested the opportunity to repair the unit but the worker did not arrive. The rooms were very hot and stuffy. After considerable discussion we have been offered $200 for three nights with no air conditioning. We believe it should have been $300.Worst and will complain through bookings – Yiding from New Zealand – 2 May 2024 (1/10)
Really bad experience ever
What could be improved: The staff told me the wrong place and let all my family walked a very long distance with so many luggage’s. And can’t get the key and waited there for almost 3 hours
