Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about the Chic East Sydney Pad? It’s tucked away on Woods Lane – and I mean really tucked away. You’ll probably walk past it once before you spot the entrance, which honestly makes it feel like you’ve discovered some secret hideaway right in the heart of Darlinghurst. The building itself has that converted warehouse vibe that Sydney does so well, all exposed brick and industrial touches that somehow feel cozy instead of cold.
The location is actually brilliant once you get your bearings. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Oxford Street, which means you’ve got everything from late-night Thai food to vintage shops right at your doorstep. But here’s the thing – Woods Lane itself is surprisingly quiet for being so central. I stayed there during the weekend and expected to be kept up by the usual Darlinghurst chaos, but the room was genuinely peaceful. The street’s got this residential feel that buffers you from the main drag noise, which is pretty rare around here. Walking to Taylor Square takes maybe three minutes, and if you’re heading to the city, catching a bus on Oxford Street is dead easy – though honestly, walking through Hyde Park to get to the CBD is half the fun.
What really impressed me was how they’ve nailed that boutique hotel sweet spot. The rooms have personality without trying too hard, you know? Mine had these gorgeous hardwood floors and floor-to-ceiling windows that let in amazing light during the day. The bathroom was compact but cleverly designed – they’ve managed to fit everything you need without it feeling cramped. I mean, it’s not a palace, but the attention to detail is spot on. The bed was seriously comfortable too, which matters more than people think when you’re planning to explore Sydney all day. Check-in was smooth and the staff actually knew the neighborhood – they pointed me toward a great coffee spot on Crown Street that I never would have found otherwise. The whole experience felt more like staying at a friend’s really well-appointed apartment than a typical hotel, which I guess is exactly what they’re going for with a 9.5 rating. If you want to be in the thick of Sydney’s creative scene but still have a peaceful retreat to come back to, this place gets it right.

Amazing host, location and property.
What could be improved: Nothing – everything was perfect.Fantastic location and a wonderful, comfortable location for an extended stay. – John from United States – 12 November 2024 (10/10)
The location in Darlinghurst is splendid – very residential and very quiet but within a very short walk to excellent restaurants. The townhouse was spotless and is very light and airy. Claudia is a wonderful host and left parking permits for our car – which never moved because we were able to walk to everything we intended to. The thought and detail in the design of the townhouse is exceptionally well done.
What could be improved: There is construction going on at the townhouse next door, but it was not an issue as we were typically up and gone most of the day when work was going on.Exceptional – Katie from New Zealand – 8 October 2024 (10/10)
Awesome place to stay in a great location. We had a wonderful holiday in Sydney. The house was clean, tidy and plenty of room for us all. We will definitely be staying again next time we are in Sydney

A comfortable and nicely appointed house, close to great cafes and restaurants in a scenic and historic lane. Felt like a separate world to nearby streets. The small green spaces nearby were handy for our dog. The owner supplied very complete information about the property and responded quickly to our messages.
Exceptional – Hueikai from Taiwan – 27 November 2023 (10/10)

The host responds quickly to any messages or questions, providing prompt replies and suggestions. Highly recommended.
