So I stumbled across this place in Brookvale – honestly wasn’t expecting much from the name “Chic Brookvale Unit,” but you know what? It actually surprised me. The big balcony they’re bragging about in the title is legit huge, and I mean properly spacious, not just some narrow strip where you can barely fit a chair. I spent most mornings out there with coffee, watching the Northern Beaches chaos unfold on Old Pittwater Road below.

The location is one of those spots that grows on you. Sure, it’s not beachfront glamour, but there’s something refreshingly honest about being in actual Brookvale – you’re getting the real Northern Beaches experience, not some sanitized tourist bubble. Warringah Mall is literally a five-minute walk (perfect for those inevitable grocery runs), and here’s what most people don’t realize: you can actually walk to the bus stops that’ll get you to Manly or Dee Why pretty easily. The unit itself feels more like staying in someone’s well-maintained apartment than a sterile hotel room, which I loved. The kitchen is actually functional – I mean, you can cook real meals, not just heat up instant noodles. That said, the whole place has this slightly corporate apartment vibe that some people might find a bit impersonal.

What really sold me was how quiet it gets at night, despite being on a main road. The double glazing must be decent because the traffic noise just… disappears once you close the doors. The balcony becomes this weird little sanctuary where you can hear the fruit bats in the evenings (very Sydney, very cool if you’re into that sort of thing). Look, it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury – it’s a solid 4-star that actually feels like a 4-star, if that makes sense. No pretensions, no fake marble lobby nonsense, just good quality everything. The WiFi worked perfectly, parking was straightforward, and check-in was refreshingly drama-free. I’d honestly stay here again, especially if I wanted to explore the Northern Beaches properly without paying beachfront prices. Just don’t expect Instagram-worthy interiors – this is more about comfort and that genuinely impressive balcony space.

  It was in a nice area, the apartment itself was quite roomy and the balcony area is great for privacy and room.
  
  What could be improved: We arrived at 3pm and the cleaners were still cleaning the place and didn’t leave till 3:15, we noticed a decent amount of mould in bathroom and laundry areas. Cow webs also in laundry area and couple roaches came from under washing machine. It was a hassle getting into the undercover parking as buzzer doesn’t seem to work and we had to get assistance from a neighbour. Air con was one that you stick in the window, not ideal.
