Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw this place on Wattle Street, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star apartment listing. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots surprise you the most. This two-bedroom setup in Ultimo is actually one of those finds that makes you feel like you’ve cracked some local code.
The location is what really sold me on this place. I mean, everyone talks about staying right in the CBD, but Ultimo? That’s where you want to be if you actually want to live like a Sydneysider for a few days. You’re literally a 10-minute stroll to Darling Harbour – and I timed it, it’s legit – but you’re also tucked away from all that tourist chaos. The walk takes you through some pretty decent coffee spots along the way (there’s this little place on Harris Street that does incredible flat whites), and honestly, the morning routine of grabbing coffee and wandering down to the water became my favorite part of the day.
What I really appreciated was how the apartment felt lived-in but not worn down, if that makes sense. The kitchen actually has proper cooking equipment – not those sad hotel coffee makers and plastic cups situation. The parking spot is clutch too, especially in this area where street parking can be a nightmare. I stayed here during a busy weekend and watched other visitors circling the block for ages while I just pulled right in. The bedrooms are decently sized, and the main one gets lovely morning light without being too bright. The only minor thing is that you can hear the occasional tram rumbling by, but it’s more of a gentle city hum than anything disruptive – actually kind of soothing once you get used to it.
The 7.7 rating makes perfect sense to me. It’s not trying to be fancy or Instagram-perfect, but everything works properly and the space feels genuinely comfortable. Plus, being in Ultimo means you’re close to the powerhouse museum, the fish markets are an easy walk, and getting to the city center is ridiculously simple. The host was straightforward with check-in instructions – no complicated key pickup situations or confusing building access codes. Just simple, clear communication that made everything smooth.

Reviews
Very good – Diane from Australia – 5 June 2025 (8/10)
Good walking distance to city.
Not ideal for older generation.Great for young people and would accomodate 6-7 if you use the futons in lounge area. – Camilla from Australia – 19 April 2025 (7/10)
Location and parking available.
Clean. Kitchen.
What could be improved: 1. Only one aircon remote worked. (Needed to be taken into each room to activate or turn off aircon).
2. Too expensive for what was provided for one night for two people. My mistake, thought I’d booked two nights, but had only booked for one.Exceptional – Agnes from Australia – 24 October 2024 (10/10)
it was neat and tidy and parking was important 👌
Good space for what it was used for, a rest stop! – Ely from Australia – 24 October 2024 (5/10)
The location was great. Within easy walking distance of public transport. Close to shops and takeaway.
The pool was a lovely bonus once we found it, with a little sauna and gym. Washer and dryer facilities are always good when you are travelling so it doesn't all amount up for when you get home. Nice artwork on the walls in the lounge and dining area. We were a group of 6 (4 adults and 2 children aged 8 and 4) – it was a good sized space for us. We didn't spend huge amounts of time there, it was a more of a rest and restore 🙂
What could be improved: On entry to the apartment, there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke. More noticeable toward the sliding doors. The property had candles though so we just lit them every day to help with the smell.
One of the first things we noticed was the sliding balcony doors. The glass was all smudged and dirty – not great for first impressions.
Blocked drain on the balcony. On the day of arrival it had been raining and there was collected water on the balcony, my son slipped on his way out causing injury. Thankfully no broken bones and thankfully it wasn't my mother who has had knee replacements.
No proper bedding for the sofa beds in the lounge – we found quilts in the cupboards (which could be how this property is managed to be fair but the host knew there was going to be six guests).
12 coat hangers for 6 people! the grown ups all had 3 each.
The fire alarm went off during our stay on 15.10.24. There was no instructions in the apartment that we could see about evacuation, assembly points etc.
Hot water was very hit and miss. The showers and bath it worked most of the time but no hot water in the kitchen. We had to boil the kettle 3 times for the sink sop we could wash up. We did raise this to the host and they did offer to come and have a look but we had busy days planned and didn't want anyone entering the apartment whilst we were out.Pleasant – Louise from Ireland – 3 October 2024 (6/10)
Location was great, parking very helpful
What could be improved: the TV didn't work at all which was very frustrating, not even free to air. Good attempt to fix but a working TV is just a given for $600+ per night stay.
Please give better instructions on how to access & find the car space.Great location, disappointing standard of accommodation. – Catherine from Australia – 5 July 2025 (5/10)
Great location, easy access to darling harbour, broadway and the light rail.
What could be improved: The beds were very uncomfortable. The bedding and towels were old, towels thin and smelt, bedding was pilled, the pillow case on my son’s bed was yellow.
The shower head in the ensuite was blocked and leaked everywhere resulting in very little water leaving the shower head. The toilet was also blocked. It was not possible to flush away usual body excrement.
I had to vacuum the bedroom floor as it didn’t appear clean.
The Wi-Fi code and password provided by booking.com was incorrect. Although we did manage to locate the correct one.
The drain on the balcony was blocked, which had been noted in previous reviews. The days we were there saw very heavy rain and the balcony didn’t drain. We didn’t go outside.
The dishwasher had the detergent dispenser closed with a piece of metal, so it didn’t open.
There was very little in the way of tea, coffee and sugar.Overpriced old apartment that was the same priced as a more modern hotel – Ariella from Australia – 14 April 2025 (3/10)
Could walk to shops and dinners spots
What could be improved: Couldn’t sleep all weekend as the lift was making a very loud banging noise anytime it was used. The apartment was directly outside the lift so that is all we could hear all night. Beds were hard & uncomfortable & the blinds were broken. Lamp in longe room didn’t even have a bulb. No water pressure in the shower. Very tired and in need of a refresh.在悉尼市区能找到这样的住宿,性价比很高。 – Junhui from China – 21 February 2025 (10/10)
客厅很大,环境安静,停车方便,离唐人街,不算远,购物方便。房间对面,有个很大的公园。有个卫生间有浴缸,泡澡方便。在悉尼市区,拥有免费车位,出门上高架也方便。
What could be improved: 网络有点差Superb – Petyo from Australia – 9 March 2025 (9/10)
Superb – Franco from Australia – 26 January 2025 (9/10)
