You know what struck me first about this place on Broadway? It’s got that solid, no-nonsense Sydney character that you just don’t find in those glass box apartments everywhere else. The building itself has some real history to it – I mean, you can tell just by looking at the facade that it’s been around the block, in the best possible way. Walking up to 174 Broadway, you’re right in the thick of Chippendale’s creative buzz, and honestly, that’s half the appeal right there.

The unit itself is pretty much what you’d expect from a 3-star spot, but here’s the thing – it actually delivers on the “charming” part of its name. The space feels lived-in rather than sterile, which I appreciated after staying in too many cookie-cutter hotels. The windows let in decent light (crucial in Sydney, trust me), and you can actually hear the neighborhood coming alive in the morning – coffee grinders from the cafe downstairs, people heading to work, that sort of authentic city soundtrack. It’s not dead quiet, but it’s not obnoxious either. The furnishings are a bit of a mixed bag – some pieces look newer, others have clearly seen better days, but everything works fine. I particularly liked the little kitchen setup; it’s compact but functional if you want to grab groceries from the IGA around the corner instead of eating out every meal.

Location-wise, you’re golden here. Chippendale’s having this moment right now – it’s got that gritty-but-gentrifying vibe that makes exploring on foot actually interesting. You can walk to Central Station in about fifteen minutes (I timed it), which opens up the whole city, and there’s a decent bus route right on Broadway if you’re not feeling the trek. The White Rabbit Gallery is practically next door, and if you’re into craft beer, you’ve got some solid options within stumbling distance. Parking can be a bit of a pain during the day – lots of loading zones and time limits – but evenings and weekends aren’t too bad if you’re patient. The 7.8 rating feels about right to me; it’s not going to blow your mind, but it won’t disappoint either. What you’re really paying for is the neighborhood access and that authentic Sydney apartment experience. I’d definitely consider staying here again, especially if I wanted to spend time exploring this part of town rather than just using it as a base for hitting the usual tourist spots.

  Rooms were a great size, comfortable and clean. Location was very handy to the city and public transport. Shared facilities were very clean and tidy with everything you need, including washer/dryer
  
  What could be improved: The only downside was the noisy traffic outside and the pub has an outdoor area which is noisy on a weekend too. However ear plugs are supplied

  The owner and cleaner are very responsive and helpful in addressing inquiries and handling any emergency issues. The location is quite convenient, situated in the heart of the city. However, it can get quite noisy at night due to constant traffic.

  The room was great. Comfortable, airy and light. Had everything we needed. Didn’t find the road as noisy as other reviews had suggested. Great location near all public transport. Great price for a week. Didn’t use the kitchen but the washer and drier was free to use so that was really helpful.
  
  What could be improved: Not the properties fault but other guests were leaving the shower room covered in hair which wasn’t great.

  Very good location for easy access to city or if you are traveling for a concert!! Super quiet and well kept, has all you could need if you don’t mind sharing with a small amount of people!
  
  What could be improved: The shower could be a little cleaner, there was definitely a little bit of mold in the grout and soap scum everywhere plus there was only access to one bathmat! And the pillows are not the best so I suggest bringing your own!
