Hotel Description
You know what really struck me about this place on Goold Street? It’s one of those apartments that actually delivers on its promise – you genuinely can walk to Central Station in about five minutes, and Chinatown is literally around the corner. I mean, when I say around the corner, I’m talking about stepping out the door and smelling the roast duck from the restaurants on Dixon Street within minutes.
The three-bedroom setup works really well for groups, honestly. It’s not fancy – this is definitely a solid 3-star situation – but everything you need is there. The kitchen’s functional (though the stovetop is a bit temperamental), and there’s enough space that you’re not tripping over each other’s suitcases. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays despite being so central. You’d expect more street noise being this close to the station, but the apartment faces away from the main drag, so you actually get decent sleep. The living area has this slightly worn-in feel that’s actually kind of homey – not Instagram-perfect, but comfortable in that “someone’s lived here” way.
Location-wise, this is where it gets interesting. Central Station means you can catch trains anywhere – airport, beaches, Blue Mountains – without dealing with Sydney’s traffic. But it’s the Chinatown proximity that really makes it special. You’ll find yourself grabbing late-night noodles from Mother Chu’s or picking up groceries from those markets that stay open until midnight. The rating of 7.4 feels about right – it’s not luxury, but it’s solid and practical. There’s a Woolworths on George Street that’s maybe a three-minute walk, and if you need anything else, the CBD starts pretty much where the apartment ends. I’d definitely recommend this for people who want to actually experience Sydney like a local rather than being stuck in some sterile hotel bubble in the touristy parts of the city.

Hugely disappointing. Terrible value for money – Benjamin from United States – 30 June 2025 (2/10)
Good communications and instruction for entry. Proximity to Spice Alley – a very cool eatery precinct.
What could be improved: Everything.
Unfortunately it's extremely run down. The images do not demonstrate the standard and they omit many factors.
We cancelled our second night as we were so disappointed but the first night cost us $890 which is extortionate for what it was. To me, the value sat at less than half of that. We feel scammed.
The bedding was very dated and there wasn't enough of it.
The downstairs heat pump made a noise like a wind storm.
The floor felt like you were about to fall through it.
The stairs were downright dangerous.
The tv didn't work. There was no lounge or comfy seating (which I should have realised).
The dining chairs were worn.
The outside area was in a terrible state and certainly not inviting.
The bathroom, which photographed nicely, was tired and the toilet seat was loose.
All the paint work was in need of a refresh.
The decor was dusty, faded and poor.
People complained about street noise. That was the least of our worries.
It was grim.
