Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Camperdown Cozy Corner 1, I wasn’t expecting much from the name alone. But this little apartment-style place on Missenden Road actually surprised me in the best way. The building itself is one of those modern Sydney developments that somehow manages to feel homey rather than sterile, and honestly, the location is pretty brilliant if you know Sydney at all. You’re literally a five-minute walk from RPA Hospital (which sounds weird to mention, but trust me, it’s handy when you need a late-night pharmacy), and King Street in Newtown is basically around the corner. I mean, you can stumble back from a night out at the Courthouse Hotel without breaking the bank on an Uber.

What really got me was how they’ve set up the space – it’s got that lived-in feeling without being messy, you know? The kitchen actually has proper appliances, not those sad little bar fridges you usually get, and there’s enough counter space to make a decent breakfast. The bed was surprisingly comfortable too, which… well, you never know with these serviced apartments. The whole place stays pretty quiet despite being right on Missenden Road, though you’ll hear the occasional bus rumbling past if you’re a light sleeper. Parking was straightforward enough – there’s a spot included, which is honestly worth its weight in gold in this part of Sydney. Check-in was smooth, none of that awkward waiting around in a tiny lobby situation.

The thing that really sells this place for me is how it sits in the neighborhood. Camperdown’s got this interesting mix going on – you’ve got university students everywhere (Sydney Uni is basically next door), but also young professionals and families who’ve been priced out of the inner west proper. There’s a fantastic Vietnamese place called Pho Pasteur about two blocks down that locals queue up for, and the Woolworths at Broadway Shopping Centre is close enough for quick grocery runs. You’re also weirdly well-connected transport-wise – Redfern Station is maybe a 15-minute walk, or you can catch buses into the city from right outside. I actually found myself using this as a base to explore different parts of Sydney because getting around was so straightforward. The whole area has this authentic Sydney vibe that you don’t get in the touristy spots – people walking their dogs, students grabbing coffee, that sort of everyday life that makes you feel like you’re actually experiencing the city rather than just visiting it. For a 4-star rating, it punches well above its weight, and that 9 rating makes complete sense once you’ve stayed there.
