Hotel Description
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to this place on Roslyn Street – I mean, Lane Cove isn’t exactly where you’d think to look for accommodation, right? But honestly, this little standalone apartment turned out to be one of those hidden gems that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special. It’s tucked away in this quiet residential pocket where you can actually hear birds in the morning (when was the last time that happened in Sydney?), and the whole street has this leafy, established feel that’s pretty rare so close to the city.
The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious – I’d say it’s what a 4-star rating should actually feel like, not the cramped hotel rooms you usually get for the price. Everything’s been thoughtfully set up, from the kitchen that’s actually functional (I made proper coffee every morning, not that instant stuff) to the little details like decent wifi and proper blackout curtains. The owner clearly knows what travelers need because there’s stuff like extra phone chargers and local area maps just sitting there ready to go. Parking’s a breeze too, which anyone who’s driven around Sydney will tell you is worth its weight in gold. The whole building’s quiet – I think I heard a neighbor once in four days, and that was just someone coming home late.
But here’s the real kicker – the location is absolutely perfect if you want that “real Sydney” experience without the tourist trap nonsense. Lane Cove village is literally a five-minute walk away, and it’s got this lovely main street with actual local cafes and a weekend farmer’s market that doesn’t feel put on for visitors. The train station’s close enough that getting into the CBD takes maybe 20 minutes, but far enough that you’re not dealing with city noise and crowds when you want to decompress. I’d walk down to the river most evenings – there’s this beautiful stretch of parkland along the water that locals use for jogging and dog walking, and it felt like being in the country while still being completely connected to everything. The buses are frequent too, which is handy if you’re planning day trips to places like Manly or want to explore different neighborhoods without the hassle of driving in the city. It’s honestly the kind of base you’d want if you were staying in Sydney for more than just a quick weekend – somewhere that feels like home but gives you easy access to all the stuff you came to see.

Great spot, in one of the best suburbs in Sydney. Close to bush land and only a 15 minute walk to the Lane Cove village.
Come for the value, Stay for the Perfection – Sasha from New Zealand – 4 April 2025 (10/10)
What can I say. There's not a big enough comments box here to say how much my mokopuna and I loved ( 'liked' doesn't quite do it) about this perfectly positioned gem. Granny/Driver and a car load of grandchildren arrived to a welcome of easy parking right out the front of our home for the next week and complimentary chocolates and chilled wine. Perfect after a flight from NZ and then a 12 hour drive. Then waking to a good morning from stunning birds sitting on our verandah and a fantastic coffee with pods left for us ( Granny def in her happy place) and children sleeping peacefully in beautifully made beds. Everything we needed was supplied( full kitchen with all con
diments). Bush walks and shops just a walk away and Taronga Zoo an easy drive. And City trip was a 2 minute walk to public transport. Our hosts, Simon and Maria have absolutely thought of everything to make.pir stay truly special
