Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about this little studio on Wyagdon Street? It’s actually brighter than most Sydney apartments I’ve stayed in – and I mean genuinely bright, not just the “bright” that property listings love to throw around. The morning light really does flood in through those windows, which is saying something since you’re tucked into a residential street in what’s essentially the Macquarie Park area.
The location is honestly pretty clever if you’re not dead set on staying right in the CBD. You’re close enough to Macquarie University that you’ll see students around, but it’s not crazy loud or anything. There’s a decent coffee place about two blocks down – nothing fancy, but the kind of spot where locals actually grab their morning flat white. The train station’s maybe a 10-minute walk, and once you’re on the line, you’re looking at about 25 minutes to get into the city center. Not bad, really. Parking was easier than I expected too, though I wouldn’t count on street parking during the week.
The studio itself is… well, it’s a 3-star place with a 7.4 rating, so you know what you’re getting. Clean, functional, with that slightly generic furniture that’s clearly been chosen to withstand different guests. But honestly, it works. The bed was comfortable enough (I’m picky about mattresses), and there’s actually decent storage space, which you don’t always get in these converted apartments. The kitchen area is small but has everything you need – I mean, you’re not throwing dinner parties, but you can definitely make breakfast and simple meals. The shower has good water pressure, which after staying in some Sydney places with sad, dribbling showerheads, I don’t take for granted anymore.
What I appreciated most was how quiet it gets at night. During the day you’ll hear some street noise and maybe neighbors, but after about 9 PM it really settles down. The building itself feels well-maintained – not luxury by any means, but solid. Check-in was straightforward, though I did have to coordinate timing since there’s no 24-hour front desk situation. The host was responsive when I had questions about the wifi setup (which worked fine once I figured it out).
Look, this isn’t going to be your Instagram-worthy Sydney accommodation, and if you’re the type who needs to be within walking distance of the Opera House, you’ll probably want to look elsewhere. But if you want a clean, reasonably priced base that gives you a bit of that “living in Sydney” feeling rather than just tourist hotel vibes, it’s actually a smart choice. The area has that residential charm where you can grab groceries, find a decent takeaway, and feel like you’re staying somewhere real people actually live. Plus, honestly, with Sydney hotel prices being what they are, getting something this decent at this price point – especially somewhere this bright and quiet – isn’t something I’d pass up.

Reviews
Overall we had a nice time probably expected it to ge bigger than what it was due to good photography on the property. – Leanne from New Zealand – 10 August 2023 (7/10)
Fantastic communication throughout our stay.It had an amazing view.
What could be improved: The bathroom was very dated and felt dirty because of this. The carpets also needed to be updated.Bare minimum with a great view – Nicole from Australia – 17 July 2023 (6/10)
This place has an incredible view which probably allows them to keep booking it out despite providing the bare minimum in every other way. Bed was pretty comfy
What could be improved: Bare minimum facilities, comforts. Carpet stained, couch old and sad, tv and stereo took me back in time, kitchen very basic with old dusty items, toaster half broken, dishes dusty and rely on previous guest to clean, bathroom didn’t even provide liquid soap or a hairdryer, anything for shower except small sample bottles probably taken from a motel room at some point.Overall for a couple it was a comfortable stay. Bed was firm and flat and slept well. Definitely an enjoyable stay. – Joseph from Australia – 24 September 2023 (9/10)
Good location with parking and city views.
What could be improved: The carpet is a bit old and couldn’t work the TV!a challenge. – John from Australia – 14 November 2023 (3/10)
Location a relatively short stroll to Neutral Bay shops etc.
What could be improved: I booked & paid for the apartment & then the booking agent demanded a comprehensive list of personal details including photo etc. I said this was all too complex and annoying and asked to cancel the booking .I was informed that it was "non refundable"& I must proceed or forfeit the money paid. In future I will stick with apartment hotels in the CBD for less money.Bright and Sunny but tachy and poor quality! – Skerrett from United Kingdom – 5 June 2023 (5/10)
The view.
What could be improved: Basic, poorly equipped, kitchen awful, no dishwasher or washing machine as advertised. Dirty rusty toaster. One mug and one small cup only provided. There are no cleaning materials on site. There are no plugs for the sinks and basins. Oversized bedding for a double bed(looks like a king-size bed had been replaced) Grubby carpets, poor quality furnishings..shall I continue?Very good – Debbie from Australia – 14 June 2024 (8/10)
Exceptional – Edward from Australia – 4 April 2023 (10/10)
Exceptional – Anonymous from Australia – 27 July 2023 (10/10)
Exceptional – Agnese from Italy – 15 October 2024 (10/10)
