You know what caught me off guard about this place on Chippen Street? The name makes it sound like some generic apartment listing, but honestly, it’s way more polished than I expected. I mean, Chippendale isn’t exactly where most tourists end up – it’s this sort of industrial-meets-artsy pocket that locals actually love because it’s real Sydney, not the glossy harbor stuff everyone posts on Instagram.
The building itself sits pretty quietly on a street that’s got this interesting mix of old warehouses and new developments. Walking in, you immediately notice how clean everything feels – not sterile clean, but like someone actually cares about the details. The one-bedroom setup is smart, not just spacious for Sydney standards (which, let’s be honest, isn’t saying much). What really works is how they’ve thought about the flow – the kitchen doesn’t feel crammed against the living area, and there’s actually enough counter space to make coffee without playing Tetris with your stuff. The gym downstairs is surprisingly decent too, nothing fancy but the equipment works and it’s never packed when I’ve been there. The sauna… well, it’s small but does the job, especially after walking around the city all day.
Here’s what I really appreciate – the parking situation is sorted, which if you’ve ever tried to find street parking in Sydney, you know is basically worth its weight in gold. The pool area gets decent afternoon sun, though it can get a bit echoey when kids are around on weekends. Location-wise, you’re about a fifteen-minute walk to Central Station, which sounds far but actually isn’t bad once you realize you’re cutting through some pretty interesting streets. There’s this great little coffee spot called Artificial just around the corner that does proper flat whites, and honestly, being walking distance from the markets on Broadway means you can actually buy groceries without the tourist markup. The area gets quiet at night – sometimes almost too quiet if you’re used to staying right in the CBD – but that also means you’ll actually sleep instead of listening to drunk backpackers until 3 AM. The 7.6 rating feels about right; it’s solid without being spectacular, though I’d probably bump it up a point just for solving the parking headache alone.

Functional and good access with no stairs at entry and elevator to the floor
What could be improved: The floors could have been cleaner; if you’re tall, the height of shelves in the living area and bedroom are at a height where it’s easy to hurt yourself.

Good value for money
The parking spot is important and super helpful
Good kitchen, good decoration and good aircon. We were very warm and cosy.
Despite being 1 bedroom, it is spacious enough for us to walk around without feeling cramped.
What could be improved: Little things could have made things easier.
You need to park somewhere before reaching your parking spot. The key safe is actually the mailbox with a locker code. The actual key safe belongs to the building and is tricky because both are located at the left hand side of the door.
I was looking forward to the jacuzzi and sauna for some minutes. Jacuzzi was outdoors and sauna indoors, and they are not close together.
There was a lot of noise, at night until late (? Weight dropping from the gym?) and people drilling something on walls in the morning. On both days.
I couldn't unlock the cooktop until it was too late. Some clear instructions would have saved all the questions needed to sort out these issues.Good – Limber from Mexico – 23 January 2025 (7/10)
