Best Western Plus Camperdown Suites
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to the Best Western Plus Camperdown Suites on Parramatta Road – I mean, it’s literally on one of Sydney’s busiest arterials, so I figured it’d be all traffic noise and concrete. But honestly, this place surprised me in the best way possible. The building itself has this modern, clean-lined look that stands out from the typical Sydney hotel blocks, and once you’re inside, you completely forget about the chaos outside.
The thing about staying in Camperdown is that you’re basically planted right in the sweet spot between the city and the inner west – and I mean that in the most practical way possible. You can walk to Sydney Uni in about ten minutes (perfect if you’re visiting kids or attending something on campus), and the RPA Hospital is right there if you’re dealing with medical appointments. What really got me though was how quiet the suites actually are once you’re settled in. They’ve clearly invested in proper soundproofing because I was bracing for truck noise all night, but I slept like a baby. The suites themselves are genuinely spacious – not that cramped hotel room feeling where you’re bumping into furniture. There’s actual room to spread out, a proper kitchenette that’s not just for show, and the beds are honestly some of the most comfortable I’ve experienced in Sydney hotels.
Here’s what I really appreciated: the staff actually knows the area. When I asked about getting to Glebe markets on Saturday morning, the front desk guy didn’t just hand me a generic map – he told me the exact bus route and mentioned that if I walked down to Broadway, I could grab coffee at this little place that opens early. That kind of local knowledge makes such a difference when you’re trying to feel less like a tourist. The parking situation is refreshingly straightforward too – no circling blocks looking for street parking or paying ridiculous daily rates. They’ve got their own garage, which in this part of Sydney is basically gold. I’d definitely come back here, especially for longer stays when you want that apartment-style space but with hotel conveniences. The 8.5 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it absolutely nails what it sets out to do, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
