You know what hit me first when I walked into Unit 25 at 62 North Steyne? The view just smacks you in the face – and I mean that in the best possible way. I’ve stayed in plenty of places claiming “beachfront,” but this one actually delivers. You’re literally looking straight out over Manly Beach, and honestly, it’s the kind of view that makes you want to cancel your dinner plans and just sit there with a drink watching the waves roll in.

The location is pretty much perfect if you know Manly at all. North Steyne puts you right in the sweet spot – close enough to the Corso that you can grab coffee or hit the restaurants without thinking twice, but far enough from the weekend chaos that you’re not dealing with drunk backpackers stumbling around at 2 AM. I actually walked to Girdlers Grind for my morning flat white (locals will know), and it took maybe three minutes. The ferry wharf is an easy stroll too, which matters more than you’d think when you’re lugging bags or trying to catch that last ferry back to Circular Quay.

What surprised me was how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re right on the beach. Sure, you’ll hear the ocean – but that’s the point, right? The apartment itself feels solid, not like some of those flimsy holiday rentals where you hear every footstep from upstairs. The setup is pretty straightforward but everything works well, and the kitchen actually has proper equipment if you want to cook (though with all the good spots nearby, I’m not sure why you would). The bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t spend the first night tossing around trying to get used to it, which… well, anyone who travels a lot knows that’s not always a given.

I stayed during shoulder season in April, and the whole area had this relaxed vibe – busy enough that everything was open and buzzing, but not so packed that you’re fighting for space on the beach. The building itself is one of those classic Manly apartment blocks, nothing fancy from the outside, but the unit is well-maintained and the elevator works (trust me, after a day of walking around Sydney, you’ll appreciate not having to climb stairs). Parking was actually manageable, though I’d recommend asking about the specifics when you book – street parking in Manly can be a bit of a game during peak times.

Look, I’ve stayed all over Sydney, and most places either nail the location or the comfort, but rarely both. This spot does both without breaking the bank or trying to be something it’s not. It’s just a really solid apartment in probably the best possible spot in Manly. The rating of 9 makes sense – it’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but for what it is, it’s damn near perfect. If you want to wake up to that view every morning and fall asleep to the sound of waves, while still being able to walk to everything that makes Manly worth visiting, this is probably your spot.
