The thing about Glebe is that it’s got this perfect balance – you’re close enough to the city that you can walk to Sydney Uni in fifteen minutes, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the constant hum of traffic all night. Griffin Place itself is this quiet residential street where you’ll hear more cockatoos than car horns, which was honestly such a relief after dealing with the chaos around Circular Quay earlier that day. The house has this lived-in warmth that you just don’t get in corporate hotels – I mean, there’s actual books on the shelves, not just decorative nonsense. The kitchen smells faintly of coffee and something baked, probably from whoever stayed before me, and there’s something oddly comforting about that. You know what really sold me though? There’s something nice about staying somewhere that feels connected to the neighborhood instead of dropped into it like some glass tower. If you’re the type who values having your own space over having someone make your bed daily, and you don’t mind that it’s not going to look like a hotel magazine spread, this place delivers exactly what it promises.
