Hotel Description

I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Beachside Bliss on Gannon Avenue, I wasn’t expecting much from the address alone. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are tucked away in these quiet residential pockets, and this spot absolutely proves that point. The building itself sits back from the main drag, which means you’re getting that peaceful vibe without being completely cut off from everything. Unit 4 might sound a bit clinical, but once you’re inside, it feels more like staying at a really well-appointed friend’s place than some sterile hotel room.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve nailed that sweet spot between being close enough to Sydney’s action but far enough out that you can actually hear yourself think. The 2219 postcode puts you in a part of the city where locals actually live and work – not just where tourists get shuttled around. I mean, you’re looking at maybe a 15-minute walk to some genuinely good coffee (not the tourist trap stuff), and the transport links are honestly better than you’d expect for somewhere this quiet. The rooms themselves have this lived-in quality that I really appreciate – everything works perfectly, but it doesn’t feel like you’re afraid to touch anything. The bed situation is particularly solid, and trust me, after years of hotel mattresses that feel like sleeping on cardboard, that matters more than you’d think.

The staff here actually seem to know the area, which is rarer than it should be. They pointed me toward this little bakery about three blocks over that I never would have found otherwise, and when I mentioned I was looking for a decent place to grab dinner that wasn’t completely overpriced, they had actual suggestions instead of just handing me a generic restaurant list. The whole operation feels like it’s run by people who give a damn, you know? Check-in was smooth – no standing around for twenty minutes while they “find your reservation” – and they’ve got the parking situation figured out, which honestly can make or break a stay in Sydney. The 9.2 rating makes total sense when you experience it firsthand; it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in the city, but everything they do, they do really well. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels authentic without sacrificing comfort, and you don’t need to be right in the thick of the tourist madness, this place delivers exactly what it promises.

Reviews

  • Great place to stay for a weekend – Veronique from Australia – 27 June 2025 (9/10)

    Comfortable apartment, convenient location.
This cosy apartment was perfect for a 4 night stay.
Parking is easy to find in close proximity along the street.

Very responsive host. Would stay again

What could be improved: One bedroom lies against the neighbours wall, they have a baby that cries through the night and they play white noise through the night as well. It was annoying, but nothing the host can do about it.

The shower leaks profusely in the bathroom, but the host provided additional bath mats as they got soaked through.

The apartment does look like it might still be going through some renovations, so I expect that this might be fixed soon.
