The layout flows really well too, with the sleeping area sort of naturally separated from the living space without feeling cramped or awkward.

The location near Hayes Beach is genuinely solid – you’re close enough to hear the waves on quiet mornings (which I found surprisingly soothing), but far enough back that you’re not dealing with the weekend beach crowds trampling past your window. There’s this little coffee spot about a three-minute walk away that locals actually use, not just tourists, and the grocery situation is pretty decent too. Parking can be a bit tricky during peak season – I ended up having to circle the block a few times on a Saturday afternoon – but honestly, that’s just Sydney for you. The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward, none of that overly formal hotel rigmarole.

What really sold me on this place was the attention to practical details. The kitchen setup is actually functional (you can cook a proper meal, not just heat up instant noodles), and there’s enough storage space that you don’t feel like you’re living out of a suitcase. The bed’s comfortable – firmer than some people might prefer, but I slept well. The bathroom’s compact but well-designed, with decent water pressure and those little touches that show someone actually thought about what guests need. I appreciated that the WiFi worked consistently throughout the space, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong.
