You know what caught me off guard about Artscape in Newtown? Walking up, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the exterior – it’s pretty understated on the street. But once you step inside, there’s this whole artistic vibe that actually makes sense with the name. The lobby has these rotating local art pieces (I mean, you’re in Newtown, so of course they do), and the staff genuinely seemed to know the stories behind them when I asked.

The location is pretty perfect if you want to feel like you’re staying somewhere with actual character. You’re literally a two-minute walk from King Street, which means you’ve got everything from vintage record stores to some seriously good Thai food right outside your door. I spent way too much time at the bookshops and cafes – there’s this little place called Gould’s Book Arcade that’s basically a labyrinth of old books. The hotel’s right in the thick of it without being on the main drag, so you don’t get the late-night street noise that can be… well, let’s just say Newtown gets lively on weekends. My room faced the back courtyard area, which was surprisingly quiet for the neighborhood.

What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to feel boutique-y without being pretentious about it. The rooms aren’t huge – this is inner Sydney, after all – but they’re thoughtfully designed with local artwork and these cool industrial touches that fit the area perfectly. The bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually worked properly (you’d be surprised how often they don’t). Staff-wise, they were helpful without hovering, and the guy at the front desk gave me some solid recommendations for dinner spots that weren’t the obvious tourist traps. Oh, and parking – there’s a small lot behind the building, which is honestly a godsend in Newtown where street parking can be a nightmare. Check-in was smooth, they had my room ready early, and they actually seemed excited when I mentioned I was there for the street art scene. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere locals would actually choose, not just another hotel that happens to be in a cool neighborhood.

  房子和照片一模一樣，整體感覺很舒適。入住期間遇到Wifi機壞掉沒有訊號，房主也馬上隔天派人來修理，服務即時也貼心。我們一行人度過了非常舒適的假期。
