You know, I’ve walked past this building on Young Street probably a hundred times without really noticing it – it’s tucked between Surry Hills and Redfern in that sweet spot where the neighborhoods blur together. But stepping inside this architect-designed studio actually made me stop and think about how much thought went into every single detail. The space feels deliberate, if that makes sense – like someone who actually understands how people move through a room designed it, not just someone trying to cram in as much furniture as possible.

The studio itself is honestly pretty stunning. There’s this wall of windows that catches the afternoon light perfectly, and I mean, you’re right in the thick of things here. You can hear the gentle hum of the city – trains pulling into Redfern station, people heading to work along Young Street – but it’s not overwhelming. Actually, I found it kind of comforting after a few days. The design is clean without being sterile, and there are these thoughtful touches everywhere… built-in storage that actually works, lighting that doesn’t make you look like you’re in a hospital, a kitchen setup that’s small but genuinely functional. I made coffee every morning and it didn’t feel like I was playing Tetris with appliances.

What really sold me on this place though is the location – and I don’t mean that in the generic “convenient location” way every hotel description says. I mean you’re a five-minute walk from some of the best coffee in Sydney (Reuben Hills is basically around the corner), you can stroll to Central Park when you need green space, and honestly, you’re close enough to the CBD that you don’t need to stress about transport, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with tourist crowds every time you step outside. The whole area has this creative energy – lots of galleries, independent shops, that sort of thing. I spent one afternoon just wandering the streets and kept discovering little pockets I’d never noticed before. Street parking can be a bit of a nightmare during the week, but there’s a Wilson parking station nearby if you’re driving. Check-in was smooth – they’ve got it set up so you’re not waiting around in some cramped lobby, which I appreciated after a long flight. The whole experience felt… well, like staying at a friend’s place who happens to have really good taste and knows how to make a small space work perfectly.
