Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to 10 Torrington Road – it’s tucked away in this residential pocket of Maroubra that most tourists completely miss. But you know what? That’s exactly what makes this place special. The Amazing Ocean Villa sits maybe a five-minute walk from those incredible natural rock pools that locals have been keeping as their little secret for years. I mean, forget Bondi’s crowds – this is where you want to be if you actually want to enjoy the water without fighting for space.

The villa itself has this laid-back coastal vibe that just works. It’s not trying to be fancy in that over-the-top way some places do, but everything feels thoughtfully put together. The owners clearly know the area well because they’ve stocked the place with all these little touches – decent coffee (thank god), local restaurant menus, even beach towels that don’t fall apart after one use. The kitchen actually functions too, which is rarer than you’d think in vacation rentals. I spent most mornings making coffee and watching the light change over the water from the main room. The sound of waves is constant but not overwhelming – it’s that perfect background noise that makes you sleep better than you have in months.

What really sold me on this place was the location though. Maroubra Beach is literally a two-minute walk down the hill, and it’s this perfect mix of locals and visitors without being touristy. The rock pools are the real highlight – they’re these natural formations that fill up with crystal-clear water during high tide. Best time to visit is early morning or late afternoon when the light hits just right. There’s also this great little café on Anzac Parade (maybe a seven-minute walk) where the barista actually knows how to make coffee, plus a decent bottle shop if you’re planning to stay in for the evening. Parking was surprisingly easy – there’s a spot right at the villa, which in Sydney is basically winning the lottery. The whole area feels residential and quiet, especially compared to the chaos of the city center, but you’re still only about twenty minutes from the CBD if you need to head in. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if you’re looking for that authentic Sydney coastal experience without the Bondi madness.

  The pool was very nice and I liked the sliding greenhouse cover, perfect for us even to swim in the winter weather. The location is amazing and perfect for guests to go to Mahon pool. The space is very clean, open and modern and great for quality time with family and friends!
  
  What could be improved: I was a bit confused on the space as there is a whole section towards the front of the house whereas our section was the back. I would’ve liked the description to be a bit more clear, though it didn’t bother me, I would’ve liked to know. I also had hoped the pool was heated as it would’ve been more comfortable for the cold weather.

  What an amazing location! Had a lovely beach walk and swim in the morning. Very spacious and comfortable. Great value for money and I’ll certainly be coming back in the near future! Friendly and helpful host .
