You know what struck me first about the Adina Apartment Hotel Chippendale? It’s actually in a proper neighborhood, not some touristy strip. Walking down Ivy Street, you’re surrounded by converted warehouses and those classic Sydney terraces – it feels like you’re staying where locals actually live, which I honestly prefer to being stuck in the CBD bubble.
The apartment setup is brilliant if you’re staying more than a night or two. I mean, having a proper kitchen and washing machine sounds boring until you realize you can grab fresh stuff from the markets at Broadway (literally a five-minute walk) and actually cook something decent. The rooms have this industrial-chic thing going on – exposed brick, high ceilings, but not in that try-hard way. Everything feels solid and well-thought-out, from the chunky wooden furniture to the way they’ve set up the living spaces. The beds are genuinely comfortable too, which… well, you’d be surprised how often hotels mess that up.
Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned between the grittier character of Chippendale and the polish of Surry Hills. Central Park is right there when you need green space, and honestly, the light rail stop makes getting around dead easy – though I’d probably walk to most places anyway. The area gets properly quiet at night (bonus points if you’re a light sleeper), but during the day there’s this nice energy from the mix of students, young professionals, and creative types who’ve made this pocket of Sydney home. Staff seem to actually know the neighborhood too, which is refreshing – they pointed me toward this tiny Ethiopian place on Abercrombie Street that I never would’ve found otherwise. The only minor gripe? Parking can be a bit of a hunt if you’re driving, but then again, that’s just Sydney for you. With a 9.2 rating, it’s clear other people are picking up on what makes this place work – it’s got that sweet spot of being comfortable without being corporate, local without being inconvenient.
You need to let the property know what time you'll be arriving in advance.
