Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “22 MacKenzie Street” listed as Bondi, I did a double-take. This place is actually in Bondi Junction, not beachside Bondi, but you know what? That turned out to be exactly what made it perfect. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Westfield Bondi Junction (which, let’s face it, is incredibly handy when you need groceries or forgot to pack something), and the train station is right there. I mean, you can get to the city in maybe 15 minutes without dealing with beach traffic.

The split-level setup is actually pretty clever – it doesn’t feel cramped like some terrace houses can. The bedrooms are spread out enough that you’re not hearing every conversation, which was great since we had different schedules. The kitchen’s got everything you actually need (not just the bare minimum), and there’s this nice flow between the living areas that makes it feel more spacious than it probably is on paper. What really got me was the morning light – these older terraces in this part of Bondi Junction have this east-facing thing going on that’s just… well, it makes your coffee taste better, honestly. The neighborhood itself has that lived-in Sydney feel without being touristy. You’ve got actual locals walking their dogs, the corner café that opens early (thank god), and it’s quiet enough at night that you’ll actually sleep.

Here’s the thing about staying here versus right on the beach – you get the best of both worlds. Sure, you’re not stumbling onto the sand in your pajamas, but Bondi Beach is maybe a 10-minute bus ride or a decent walk downhill. And when you’re done with the beach crowds, you come back to this surprisingly peaceful street where you can actually find parking (most of the time). The whole area feels more like you’re living in Sydney rather than just visiting it. The rating speaks for itself – this isn’t some flashy hotel trying to impress you with marble lobbies, but it’s solid, comfortable, and in a spot that makes sense if you want to explore beyond just the beach scene. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was traveling with a group that wanted space to spread out but still be close to everything that matters.
