Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “2-4 Trinity Avenue” on my booking confirmation, I thought it was going to be some sterile apartment conversion. You know how Sydney CBD can be with these heritage buildings that get chopped up into accommodations. But walking up to this place on Trinity Avenue (it’s basically a quiet side street that runs parallel to the main George Street chaos), I was actually pleasantly surprised.

The building itself has this solid, no-nonsense Victorian charm that somehow escaped the worst of Sydney’s development madness. What really got me was how they’ve managed to keep the character intact while making it genuinely comfortable – I mean, you’re not dealing with paper-thin walls or those terrible heritage windows that don’t close properly. The rooms have this lived-in elegance, if that makes sense. Not trying too hard to be boutique-y, but definitely a step up from your standard business hotel. The floorboards creak just enough to remind you you’re in an old building, but not so much that you’re tiptoeing around at midnight.

Here’s what actually matters though – the location is quietly brilliant. Trinity Avenue is one of those streets that tourists walk past without noticing, but it puts you right in the sweet spot of the CBD without the constant sirens and delivery trucks. You can walk to Circular Quay in about eight minutes (I timed it), and you’re literally around the corner from some of the better coffee spots that the business crowd hasn’t discovered yet. The building sits close enough to the main action that you feel connected to the city’s pulse, but far enough back that you can actually sleep with the windows open. I stayed here during a particularly busy conference week in March, and while the hotels on George Street were dealing with constant street noise, Trinity Avenue felt almost residential.

The staff here actually know what they’re doing – check-in was smooth, they had real recommendations for dinner (not just the usual tourist traps), and honestly, the housekeeping was spot-on. Small things matter when you’re dealing with Sydney’s premium accommodation prices, and this place delivers on the details. The whole experience feels more like staying at a well-run guesthouse than a corporate hotel, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to get a genuine feel for the city. That 9.2 rating isn’t just numbers – it reflects the fact that this place consistently gets the fundamentals right without any unnecessary fuss.

    Amazing location! Famous sights in every direction. We arrived in a terrible storm, so we were glad to find easy directions to enter, and the apartment was so cosy inside. AND there was everything I needed to make a cup of tea while our hair dried!
    A nice amount of space for 5 people. Light and spacious with enough furniture for everyone.
    Hosts were super responsive, which is reassuring, but we didn't need more than the accommodation provided.
