You know what struck me first about this place? The name is absolutely terrible – I mean, “1NC Spacious Abnb-style 3Bedroom Townhouse” sounds like someone sneezed on a keyboard – but honestly, don’t let that scare you off because this spot is actually brilliant. I’ve stayed in plenty of North Sydney places, and this townhouse on Doohat Ave is one of those hidden gems that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special.

The location is pretty much perfect if you know Sydney at all. Doohat Avenue is this quiet residential street that most tourists never stumble across, but you’re literally a five-minute walk to North Sydney station, which means you can be in the CBD in about eight minutes on the train. What I really love though is that you get that free parking spot (and trust me, in North Sydney that’s worth its weight in gold) – plus you’re close enough to walk to Milsons Point for those Harbor Bridge views everyone’s always posting on Instagram. The townhouse itself feels properly lived-in, not like those sterile hotel boxes. Three bedrooms spread across multiple levels, and the space actually breathes – you can have people in the living area downstairs while someone’s having a phone call upstairs without everyone stepping on each other.

I stayed here during a busy work week and was surprised by how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re so close to the station and main roads. The kitchen is well-stocked (they’ve got proper coffee gear, which matters), and there’s this nice little courtyard area that catches the morning sun perfectly. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the stairs between levels are a bit steep, so if you’re traveling with elderly relatives or heavy luggage, just be aware of that. But honestly, the whole setup works so well for families or groups of friends – we had six people staying comfortably, and everyone had their own space when they needed it. The hosts clearly know what they’re doing too; check-in was smooth, and they left those little touches that show they actually care about your stay rather than just going through the motions. If you’re looking for something that feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel, and you want to be properly connected to Sydney without paying CBD prices, this is exactly what you want.

  Spacious, well appointed and in an excellent location within walking distance to multiple cafes, restaurants and supermakets. Appreciated the free parking, washer / dryer plus 2 full bathrooms and extra powder room for our family of 6. A rare gem at a reasonable price.
